Times open:
The library
remains open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 17:00
Users
Students (senior
and junior), teachers (senior and junior), staff, parents and old boys and
girls.
Ø
Basically, it
is possible to borrow or reserve up to 4 books for use at home, though, in
cases of special needs (i.e. I.B. extended essays) special terms may be
negotiated on a case by case basis.
There is no limit for the uses of materials within the library premises.
Ø
The lending
period for the books is of two weeks.
Ø
Reference books
such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc. and magazines may only be used in the
library. Exceptionally, they may be
borrowed overnight and must be returned first thing in the morning the next
day.
Ø Audiovisual materials are only for internal use.
Ø
During exam
periods, or by specific requests from teachers, some of the materials may remain
temporarily under a “special materials”, only for use inside the library. They may be borrowed overnight in the same
way as reference books.
Ø
Loans to
departments or to teachers for use in the classroom have open return dates.
Reserves
If a book is out on loan, it may be
reserved.
Once the reserved book is back, it is held
for 48 hours; after this the reservation is passed on to the next one on the
list.
Overdue books.
Once a book becomes overdue, communication
is sent immediately. In the case of students
from 1st to 4th years, the communication is sent to the
tutors.
Loss or damage
If a book is lost or damaged, it must be
replaced or paid for. In some cases a
different book may be accepted as replacement.
Donations
Donations are welcome. The library reserves the right to accept
only those materials that fit its collection growth policy.
Behaviour in the library
The use of
library facilities by students demands respect for basic individual and
collective behaviour rules in terms of keeping the level of noise and dirt as
low as possible.
In the areas reserved for individual study, silence
will be maintained.
It is not considered appropriate to eat, drink, or
play noisy games in the library
When students come to the library with a teacher,
the teacher is responsible for their behaviour. Otherwise, the library staff reserve the right to send out of the
library anyone who does not behave correctly.
